About me

I'm a self-taught artist. I always loved being creative but only started painting when my husband Neil and I moved into our new home some years ago. As funds were tight and we needed some artwork to decorate our home, I decided to make my own. After that painting, became a passion for me and I am still experimenting and learning new techniques. I am currently enjoying collage.

I paint mostly with acrylic and started off painting abstracts, just experimenting with colour and texture. I am now painting landscapes, seascapes, still life, animals and people. The area where I live on the North East coast of Essex provides me with plenty of inspiration. Although the subject matter of my work is quite diverse, there is a naive theme and it has been described as sparse, calming and meditative, with an influence of the St Ives artists, such as Alfred Wallace.

I have sold work through the Saatchi online gallery and am building up a local following with regular exhibitions around Colchester, Essex and in the south west of France, near Carcassonne. I recently had one of my collages entitled "Home" featured on Grayson’s Art Club on Channel 4.

The Wivenhoe Art Trail takes place twice a year in May and November in the small Essex town of Wivenhoe, on the River Colne, and I am proud to be one of the organisers. Up to 40 Local artists open their homes, studios or garages to show their work.

I have a range of greetings cards, placemats and coasters produced from my images for sale here in the shop.

I am happy to take commissions for pet portraits and normally work from photographs of your pet. Some of my commissions can be seen in the Archive section of this site.
